Finally they had succeeded in doing that very few who know me even try to make an attempt at. My team mates had forced me to join them for lunch and movie on a Sunday( the day when even God takes rest!). I had tried making lots of logical excuses and continued till the excuses became weirder. Any ways finally i had to give in.
Well the movie was also not the latest Harry Potter movie. Excuse me for delaying the suspense.
After the movie we decide to spend some time in the adjacent park. As we sat talking nonsense and me inventing new time pass games to play with the half dozen glass marbles that I found lying among the grass there came up the character of the day.... An Astrologer with a Parrot.
As we were just running out of topics to pull each others legs we decided that we all will get our Futures predicted. The ladies as expected started to bargain and even managed to get a deal for 'bulk' future reading. I decided to video record the whole event and got to my job.
The astrologer would ask us our name and tell his parrot to pick a card based on which he supposedly saw our future. He satisfied the ladies with predictions like they will have love marriages, some thing good is going to happen in December etc. For the clown in the group(which is not me) he predicted that he was going to have two marriages. As I caught it on video I knew I just had a week's dose of leg pulling for the poor guy.
Finally it was my turn. I handed over the camera as I would be the subject now. The name was pronounced, the card was drawn. The future was blank. Yes, the astrologer wasn't able to see my future. He said he needed to consult "The Book" to see my future and that it required some more money. Clearly it was a business trick. But it was what exactly I wanted to hear. The guy with two marriage predictions on his head was saddened the most as he badly needed something against me. He exclaimed "This is not right ... its like'Harry Potter and the Book of Secrets'.... there must be something...".
The astrologer definitely a fake we all knew it; but, what I observed was he was an excellent mind reader. He predicted exactly what we all wanted to hear. As for me I prefer a clean slate. What is the fun if you know what is coming. And moreover if you have seen the future it has already changed.
